Fenenin el-Rahhal

PRÉSENTATION
"Fenenin el-Rahhal (or "Caravan of Artist-Nomads") was a working artists' summit whose mission was more entrenched on process than outcome. It was conceived as a journey that invited twenty artists, writers, journalists, activists and professionals from around the world to trek across the Western Egyptian desert for the length of seven days. They then discovered one another's work, reflected, discussed, and engaged in collaborative works on the notion of "territory". At the conclusion of their journey in the desert, they spent four days in Cairo to take part in a roundtable discussion, open to the public, at the Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Art. Their discussions coincided with the 2006 Cairo Biennial of Art, and a number of cultural events planned in the city during the same
